§1 Overview
Eyedea Refractive is a clinical decision-support tool developed by Eyedea / Intuame for use by qualified ophthalmologists and refractive surgery specialists. The App is provided as a professional service and is not intended for the general public.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the App, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
§2 Data Collected
The App collects minimal personal information. Specifically:
- Professional information: The doctor's name you enter in Settings is stored locally on your device and used solely to populate printed PDF reports.
- Patient evaluation data: Clinical measurements and calculations you enter (refraction, keratometry, pachymetry, etc.) are stored locally on your device only. This data is never transmitted to Eyedea's servers.
- Anonymous usage data: To improve the App, we collect anonymous usage statistics — such as number of sessions, features used, and number of saved evaluations. This data contains no personal information, no patient data, and cannot be linked to any individual. Collection is mandatory and performed automatically to ensure complete statistical coverage, as described in §4.
- Device identifiers: Third-party services integrated into the App (Firebase, Google Play Services) may collect anonymous rotating device identifiers for analytics purposes, as described in §4.
The App does not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information about patients.
§3 Local Storage
Saved evaluations and settings are stored exclusively on your device using Android and iOS platform storage (SharedPreferences / NSUserDefaults). This data:
- Never leaves your device unless you explicitly share a PDF export.
- Is not backed up to Eyedea's servers.
- Is permanently deleted when you uninstall the App or clear the App's data from your device settings.
§4 Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase Analytics: Used to collect anonymous usage statistics (number of sessions, features used, evaluations saved). Firebase Analytics does not collect IP addresses and uses rotating anonymous instance identifiers that cannot be linked to any individual. No personal data or patient data is ever sent to Firebase Analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy →
- Google Firebase (Firestore, Remote Config): Used to deliver public content (news, videos) and enforce minimum app version requirements. No personal data or evaluation data is stored in Firebase. Firebase Privacy Policy →
- Google Play Services / Apple App Store: Distribution platforms that may collect device and usage information per their respective policies. Google Privacy Policy →
These providers are contractually prohibited from using any information they access for purposes other than providing services to the App.
§5 Log Data
In the event of an error, third-party services integrated into the App may automatically collect diagnostic log data. This may include:
- Device model and operating system version
- App version and configuration at the time of the error
- IP address and approximate time of the event
This data is used solely to diagnose and fix technical issues. It is not linked to any personally identifiable information or patient data.
§6 Data Deletion
Because Eyedea Refractive does not transmit or store any personally identifiable data on our servers, there is no server-side data for us to delete on your behalf. All data you enter into the App exists only on your device.
How to delete your data
You are in full control of your data and can delete it at any time, without contacting us:
- 1 Android — saved evaluations & settings: Go to Settings → Apps → Eyedea Refractive → Storage → Clear Data. This immediately and permanently removes everything the App has stored.
- 2 iOS — saved evaluations & settings: Go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Eyedea Refractive → Delete App. Reinstalling gives you a clean slate.
- 3 Anonymous diagnostic data (Firebase / Google): Managed by Google. Use Google's Data & Privacy controls → to review or delete data associated with your Google account.
- 4 Distribution platform data: Manage through your Google account (Android) or Apple ID (iOS) settings.
If you have a question about what data the App stores, or believe data has been collected in a way not described in this policy, contact us at intuame@intuame.com and we will investigate and respond within 10 business days.
§7 Children's Privacy
The App is a professional clinical tool intended solely for use by licensed healthcare providers. It is not directed at, and does not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that a minor has provided personal information, we will delete it immediately.
§8 Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information described in this policy. Because patient evaluation data is stored exclusively on your device, its security depends on your device's own security settings (screen lock, device encryption, etc.).
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We encourage users to keep their device software up to date and to use a secure screen lock.
§9 External Links
The App may display links to external websites (such as scientific references or video content). We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the privacy practices of those external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before submitting any personal information.
§10 Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the updated version will be published at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
